Joyce A. Brown
Motivational Speaker - Author - Publisher
Joyce A. Brown is a motivational speaker and author who uses her creative energy to give voice and meaning to the challenges we face in all walks of life. After being approached by several publishing companies for her stellar work, she realized that was not the route she needed to go. She wanted to be able to switch up her writing style and not be limited to a specific genre of writing. In the process of learning how to self-publish, she suffered a major life threatening sickness that caused her to need heart surgery in 2011. After this ordeal, she was unable to work and wanted to reinvent herself. She dreamed of spending the rest of her days on this earth as a powerful and entertaining writer, thus, Live The Dream Publishers was birthed. She has been self-publishing her best-selling and award winning work under this brand ever since. She is also a contributing writer for an online publication, Garden Spices Magazine.
She grew up in Rockford, Illinois in a household full of strong women, but her professional career expanded her horizons into Peoria, Illinois, and Battle Creek, Michigan. Brown is a graduate of Bradley University, where she received her B.S. and M.A. degrees, and a graduate of Western Michigan University where she received her Ph.D.
Joyce was nominated by Broadview Public Library District in the 2017 Soon To Be Famous Illinois Author Project; she was a finalist for her novel, Getting Away With Everything. Amongst Joyce’s numerous accomplishments, she has served as a Deputy Director, Tri-County (Peoria) Urban League. President/CEO, Southwestern Michigan Urban League (Battle Creek, Michigan); Regional Director, Kellogg Youth Initiatives Program, W.K. Kellogg Foundation; and owner/principal consultant, Organizational Development Solutions LLC. Additionally, she is the recipient of the multiple awards including ATHENA Award from Battle Creek Chamber of Commerce, Sojourner Truth Award from National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women, and the Rosa Parks Award from the NAACP Battle Creek Senior Branch.
